The TPC Stadium Course is the most recognizable course at PGA West. It is ranked as one of the “Top 100 Courses in the World” by GOLF Magazine. And Golf Digest describes it as the fourth toughest in America. The challenges and excitement of this course far exceed most golfing experiences. The TPC Stadium Course has the highest stroke of all the PGA West courses with 76.1 at 7,300 yards. And it has the highest slope ratings with 150.
This course is a host to the PGA TOUR Q-School and was designed by Pete Dye. Potential PGA Tour players must take on the island green hole #17, better known as Alcatraz, before confronting the hostile water-lined 18th. Dye’s plans included spectator seating carved into the natural landscaping, resulting in the “stadium” name. And many historic moments have happened here including Lee Trevino’s hole-in-one on Alcatraz. The TPC Stadium has five sets of tees to attract many skill levels.
PGA West is surrounded by luxury homes and condominiums that have been built since 1984. These homes often feature spacious floor plans and beautiful landscaping as well as golf course views. This golfing community has security and tranquility as well as access to club amenities. And residents enjoy the special night landscape lighting.
The TPC Stadium is one of six legendary courses at PGA West in La Quinta. There are 2,200 acres of championship courses and 109 holes of golf as well as three clubhouses, tennis courts, and fitness centers. Members enjoy fine dining, activities, and many spa services. And PGA West is known as the “party pros” offering facilities for weddings, business meetings, and family get-togethers. Opportunities are also available for nonmembers including rounds at the TPC Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament courses. The public also has access to the Golf Academy.
